The BSI Screening Kit

The Balcones Sensory Integration Screening Kit is available from TOTA.

The Balcones Sensory Integration Screening Protocol is a test developed by occupational therapists as a sensory integrative screening instrument or as a component of a more detailed neuropsychological battery and is designed to aid in problem identification. The test is appropriate for the kindergarten through twelfth grade population (approximately ages 5 - 18).

There are eight major component categories which include items in gross motor, fine motor, and percetual motor areas. The categories are ocular-motor control, proprioception, primitive reflex-brain stem midline interaction, vestibuar, tactile perception, sterognosis, visual-motor (form) perception, and lateralization. The intent of the test is to identify students who might benefit from sensory-motor/sensory integrative testing and programming. Using information gained from the screening is helpful in identifying special neuro-behavioral; behavioral; and/or classroom performance. Findings can also aid the classroom teacher's expectation of the child's performance.

The cost for this outstanding diagnostic tool is $50, postage included. If you are interested in purchasing the BSI Kit, you can download an order form by following this link. You can contact the TOTA office at 512/454-8682 or by e-mail.
